The Most "Pinteresting" Wedding Ever

Maximize your ability to be inspired and pull together the perfect elements for your dream wedding!

Pinteterest is the new social media tool on the block, but it is quickly becoming brides’ favorite method of collecting and sharing images that inspire the look and feel of the “perfect wedding”.  There is no limit to what you can find out in cyberspace, but Pinterest makes it easy for you to search the internet quickly and efficiently.  You can borrow inspiration  and great ideas from other brides or stick a “pin” in something that you may have found along the way.

First, the basics!

·         Pinterest is by invitation only! Click here to request your exclusive invitation to Pinterest fromClassique Soiree.   Once your account is set up, don’t forget to follow us on Pinterest!

·         Use the search box to your advantage.  Pinterest will automatically link you to friends so that you can view their boards, but your greatest ally may be a total stranger!  Be sure to use key words associated with your wedding day to search for what you want.  Remember to be specific, for instance, search “polka dot wedding favors” instead of “favors”.

·         A pin is a single picture which ultimately links back to the website or blog where it was originally featured.  A board is a collection of pins thatall have the same theme.  When you pin an item to a board, you do so from a website or blog by clicking the pin it button either from the site or from your favorites bar.  When you repin, you simply add a pin from someone else’s board to one of your own.  You can also like a pin or comment on one without it showing up on any of your boards.

·         Remember that Pinterest is a social media that focuses on public sharing.  That means that as of right now, there is no private setting for your account.  The pins and boards you build for your wedding will be available for all to see.

Now that you have an account and you know the basics, it is time to gather inspiration for your wedding!  Follow these tips to get the most out of your pinterest experience.

This one seems like a given, but I can’t tell you how many brides have fallen into the trap of labeling their board “My Wedding”.  Each element of your day will be inspired from any number of different sources, so each deserves its own place.  Your cake is a great example.  You may find a great color from one image, a lovely shape from another, the flowers could come from a third and there could even be a fourth image.  The cake that embodies what you DON’T want!  That is just as important for your baker to understand about your vision and will help them connect with you to provide the very best for you.  Here are some labels you can consider:
·         Bridal Style- Gown, hair, make up, nails, jewelry, and anything else that is exclusive to how you will look as you walk down the aisle.
·         Ceremony- Sample vows and programs, monogramed aisle runners, traditional (or non-traditional) touches and ways to honor loved ones who are deceased.
·         Cakes- Need I say more?
·         Reception- Décor, RSVP suggestions, menu items (food and drink), and favors.
·         Bridesmaids/Groomsmen- Attire/Accessories, and gifts.
·         Photography- Collect the styles and shots that you love and might like for your photographer to recreate.  This goes for engagement and wedding shots.
·         Honeymoon- Destinations, accommodations and activities.

I know, I know…seven whole boards to manage!?!  Trust me, here at Classique Soiree, we understand that is easy to get overwhelmed, and that is where we come in.  We are the bride’s first line of defense because as planners, we have seen it all!  We have been there and we can help you navigate through what could be tricky territory.  Think of it this way.  You are simply setting up your pinterest account to match your bridal binder (stay tuned for more info on that).

When you meet with your wedding vendors, it will help those professionals do a better job if they have a clear understanding of what you really want!  Pinterest allows you the opportunity to show your vendors what you want rather than telling them, which makes it very valuable to you as a bride and a consumer.  Before you visit your wedding vendors, invite them to follow you on Pinterest.  That way, they can view your images and even take a look at the links those images represent.  You can also print your Pinterest boards and add them to your bridal binder to take them with you.  Looking for the best Tampa Bay wedding vendors?  Contact Classique Soiree forreferrals!

While it is important to share your vision with all of your wedding vendors, there is one particular wedding professional who should have a part in contributing to your vision; YOUR WEDDING PLANNER .  Don’t be afraid to release this privilege to your planner through group boards!  This function on Pinterest allows you and your planner to work together, in real time, in order to develop your creative vision. Just be careful about who else you invite to pin on your board (friends and family members often have the best of intentions at heart…really, they do).  I can’t stress enough how important it is to have help at every point of the planning process and this is a great tool for collaboration.  Plus, all the suggestions, tips, and information will be in one place which eliminates the need for countless bouncing emails with tons of attachments!  Easy and efficient!

It is easy to get carried away with the sheer size and scope of the material available on Pinterest. The temptation is to just click and pin as much as you can find.  Here is where you need to use a little finesse.  As you pin, be sure to use the comment section to remind yourself (and your planner) of why you fell in love with that particular image.  Be specific and you will find that themes will reveal themselves.  It will give you a lot of insight and you might be surprised at what you learn about yourself as a bride as well as you and your fiancée as a couple.

Consider this a warning: Pinterest can be addictive.  With that said, it is up to you to know when enough is enough.  Remember that your engagement period is meant to be a joyful time for you and your fiancée!  Don’t waste away the hours in front of a computer screen when you could be “engaging” in a few meaningful moments with your man!  You should also revisit and refine your boards from time to time.  Purge old ideas and get rid of things that no longer strike your fancy or are no longer a possibility.

You are now armed with the information you need to make the most of your pinning and planning where your big day is concerned.  Your wedding WILL be beautiful and memorable, every wedding is.  With the help ofyour planner  and the resources pinned to your inspiration boards, you can do this!
